Rava/ Suji Sheera

Most of the Indians specially south Indian know about Satyanarayana Pooja, we use to make super tasty prasadam for the same, this is prepared with very few ingredients and believe it or not those who don't eat sweets will like this. This typically called as "Sheera" in North Karnataka while it is called "Kesari Bhath" in Bangalore.

A week back I just had prepared the same and offered to Goddess and then when I gave small bit to my daughter, usually my daughter don't like sweets but on that day she liked and asked for more, even the next day she asked me to give that prasad. I am sharing here the recipe to prepare the same, it is full with nutrition specially to children as it contain Ghee, Banana, Dry Grapes, Cashewnuts and Almond.

So, let us start then. Note the following items which you need to prepare this.
  1. 1 Cup of Sugar
  2. One Full Banana
  3. 1 Cup of Rava [Bombay Rava]
  4. 1 Cup of Milk
  5. 1 Cup of Pure Ghee
  6. Handful pieces of Cashew nuts, Dry Grapes and Almond
How to Prepare:
  1. Cut banana, cashew nuts, dry grapes and almond into smaller pieces. Take a copper bottom kadai or any heavy bottom kadai and keep it on heat till it gets a bit heat, pour cup of ghee into the kadai now once ghee gets melted pour pieces of banana, cashew nuts, grapes and almond and fry them till it changes the color to light brown.
  2. Once it turns to light brown, pour the coup of Rava into it and fry the same till it turns to brown and just keep stirring and you will feel a flavour.
  3. Pour sugar and keep stirring, sugar starts melting and you will feel the flavor and then close the lid for some time, keep stirring in between.
  4. After say about 3-4 minutes open the lid and pour milk and keep stirring. Note: If you do not stir then it would turn to lump so keep stirring and when it absorbs the milk then switch off heating and mix the whole ingredient well.
  5. The tasty and healthy sheera or prasadam is ready to eat.
