Tomato Chutney/ Sauce

My daughter likes sauce very much, but as you all know the sauce which we buy might really have many chemicals and other ingredients which may cause harm in long run. So I thought why not we prepare a tomato chutney which taste just like sauce at home, so here is one. I learn't this from my mother-in-law and made bit change, my daughter now stopped sauce completely and she likes this chutney very much Today am sharing the same here.

Ingredients Needed:
  1. 10-15 Tomatoes [You can have more as you need, but the preparation is for 10-15 tomatoes]
  2. 1 Teaspoon of Jeera and Mustard
  3. 1/4 Teaspoon of Methi seeds
  4. Small quantity of tamarind, jaggery and red chilly powder
  5. Salt as per taste.
Method of Preparation

First, put the whole tomatoes in a frying pan and fry it for about 2 to 3 minutes, then make a paste of the fried tomatoes in a mixer. Now put the paste in a frying pan and keep it for boiling in a low flame.

Now, on another frying pan pour Mustard seeds, Jeera, Methi and Tamarind [little bit] and fry them all for about 2 to 3 minutes, while you fry them it would make small sounds then take off from the stove, then make a powder of this in a mixer.

Now pour the powder as did above in the pan of boiling tomatoes paste and pour bit of salt as per taste, bit of jaggery and then boil it till the paste becomes dry.

While it boils keep stirring occasionally, the whole mixture will turn to bit reddish and the whole water content gets absorbed, once it appears to be dry switch off the flame and allow it to cool.

Once it cools the Tomato Chutney or Sauce is ready to serve with anything like Roti, Bread just like jam. If needed then while serving portion of the chutney could be mixed wit bit water to make it semi liquid.

The prepared chutney can be stored in refrigerator for about 15 to 20 days.

Kids will love this, you can replace their usual sauce with home made tomato chutney or sauce.
